Six Flags Fiesta Texas Day 1: Crowds, Cheeseburgers, and Finding Joy Anyway
Our first day at Six Flags Fiesta Texas
Our Passes & Perks
This time last week, my family was at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, riding roller coasters and stuffing our faces with double cheeseburgers and hot wings. Surprisingly, there were no tummy aches on this trip lol.
We are Six Flags Fiesta Gold Pass Holders which means we get unlimited park entry with no blackout dates, Hurricane Harbor Entry, complimentary parking, and discounts on food and merchandise.
We also have the Two Meal Season Dining Pass, where we can get 2 meals per visit from select menu options. (*You must wait 3 hours in between your 2 meals,) And we have the season drink refill cup.
This means, we kind of have an instant vacation at our disposal almost anytime, just add a hotel.
This is nice when you have a house full of sensory seekers, who are also joy chasers.
It’s also a really beautiful park, with a really interesting backstory:
“Prior to Six Flags Fiesta Texas becoming a theme park, the land it currently stands on was used for Redland Quarry. Redland Quarry mined limestone from the surrounding hills for use in various projects in Texas. Opened in 1934, the quarry lasted until 1988, when mining operations had tapped out the limestone in the area where Fiesta Texas would be built, which opened the land for sale and development.”

Surprise Crowds: Replanning in Real-Time
We had some surprises on the first day at Six Flags. (Which was the second day of my trip. The first day of our trip was mostly driving, then a Costco pizza and lazy day at the hotel).
We ALWAYS plan our trips around crowd calendars.
If you don’t already know, crowd calendars are websites that post projected attendance at popular attractions to give you an idea of how many people might be in the park that day. They are a great resource if you have the freedom and flexibility to plan your trips around them.
This trip, I knew Saturday was going to be super packed, but we would have the waterpark day, so I figured it wasn’t a big deal… our main goal of this trip was to experience the waterpark before the major crowds from summer came.
BUT, the crowd calendar said that Friday would be a “ghost town.” So we came prepared to walk on EVERYTHING. Which is how we like to travel because large crowds can be a stresser that causes anxiety and overstimulation. Also, who doesn’t love to just walk on a ride?
Well, the crowd tracker DID not account for school trips… and it seemed that EVERY school in Texas decided to go to the park that day.
And every ride at Six Flags Fiesta that Friday had a very long wait time.
I don’t know how long, because one thing Six Flags Fiesta does NOT do well is display accurate wait times… and there is no wait time indicator at the beginning of each line (this is important information for you if you plan on visiting the parks this summer when the lines will be long, and it will be HOT!)
So, we had to regroup. And replan our day.
My kids had to practice patience, and I had to let go of my idea of the “perfect” theme park day with no waiting in line…
We had to paint a new picture of what we wanted out of this trip.
Guest Services Came Through
I went to Guest Services to inquire about a pass for someone in my family who needs some assistance waiting in crowded lines.
Because of the situation, they gave us a one day courtesy Attractions Access pass that helped by giving a virtual queue based on the wait times in the park. So we could ride rides, while waiting outside the line, and then enter the ride through the ride exit when it was time to return.
We don’t usually utilize this option at Six Flags, because we use the crowd calculators, but on that day I felt we needed it.
In order to get assistance in the future, I was sent to this website IBCCES Accessibility Card to obtain an accessibility card. We were able to do the application on the phone and get a temporary card IBCCES in my emails the next day (pending document approvals).
This is something I plan to do a whole blog about later, so be sure to be on the lookout for that… but Guest Services at Six Flags was extremely helpful with the whole situation and the kids ended up getting to ride a few of their favorite rides, and we ended up having a pretty nice day…
The Iron Rattler
I also think it also really helped that we are Gold Pass holders who can come back to the park at almost any time, and knew we still had a couple of days left on our Six Flags trip.
Knowing you can come back is an amazing gift, because it allows you to slow down and enjoy everything without the fear of missing out.
While the food lines were super long, and the park was crowded, it wasn’t the worst theme park day I’ve ever experienced. And even though the park was filled with teenagers, they were actually all really well behaved from what I could tell. It was kind of nice to see them all having a great time together.
Our family had little to no complaints, even though the day threw us some curveballs.
What it feels like waiting for your kids to get off the rollercoasters, when you can’t ride this time around….
Do you have any questions about Six Flags Fiesta Texas? I will try to blog through our trip, as well as do an overview of the park this week. I’d love to help answer any questions you might have!
Our Family’s Top 3 Coasters
I took a survey and kind of took the average of everyone’s answers to come up with this list. Everyone in my family rides roller coasters.
Superman
The Iron Rattler
Poltergeist
Our family’s top 3 eats:
Hot Wings/BBQ Wings at Bubba’s Cafe.
Double Cheeseburgers at Pete’s Eats
Pulled Pork Sandwich at Old Blue’s BBQ
*to be fair, with the food, we have not ventured off the beaten path too much lol. Next time I am there I will have to try more variety. The kids and I just really like the wings and hamburgers… and my husband loves the BBQ. For a theme park, Six Flags has some pretty good food!
That wraps up Day One. Like I said, I’ll post about day 2 and day 3 (probably in one blog since day 3 was pretty short), and then I’ll do an overview of the whole park and cover some park policies this week as well.
